French Viola Circa 1890- 15 1/2 inch

This beautiful Viola, made in the famous violin making region of Mirecourt, has a powerful warm sound, full of wonderful textures and overtones. The A string is sprightly, and capable of bright and penetrating tones when required. The instrument on the whole projects very well, and would do good to carry above an orchestra or piano.

With an attractive one piece back with medium to strong flame, and a deep transparent burgundy varnish. This instrument would be perfect for the aspiring professional, or a player whose primary instrument is violin.

The instrument is in an excellent state of preservation for its age.
