English Viola – Philip Brealey 2008- 16 inch

This beautiful Viola was made in Nottingham in 2008 by Philip Brealey.

It has a  comfortable body length of 16inches.

The sound is strong and projects well, with warm overtones, The A string is sweet in the higher  registers.

The C string is dark, warm, and powerful.

The words “Marana Tha”are inscribed on the bass bar of the instrument.

These words come from the Aramaic language.

Which are part of St Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians in the New Testament.
